My story

I was born and grew up in a small town in the Italian Alps, in a valley situated north of Lake Como and very close to the border with Switzerland. I can’t say for sure where my interest in languages came from, but I still vividly remember the fictional characters of my first English school books, and how I always had great fun learning all those strange, new words and being able to use them.

Motivated by my passion for languages and communication, after finishing school I went on to study Modern Languages at Milan University. As part of my degree course, I spent a year in London, where I researched and completed my final dissertation while supporting myself through a variety of jobs.

I also attended a residential course at La Rochelle University and further consolidated my knowledge of French and love of French culture through several extended trips to Paris and Provence.

Once I graduated, I decided to move back to London. After spending a year working as an academic buyer for a bookstore chain, I went on to spend another two as a multi-lingual coordinator for an international company with offices in Milan, Paris, Brussels, and London.

After that I launched my career as a language consultant and course provider, and I was very fortunate to be able to collaborate with several high-profile clients including banks, law firms, advertising agencies, as well as Chelsea Football Club, Boots the Chemist and the BBC.

That was followed by a few years teaching French and Italian in schools, while I was also growing my translation business, which then became my sole focus.

I now live with my family in a small town in Surrey, just a 30-minute train ride from London. When I am not juggling words, I like cooking, doing yoga, walking in nature, writing for pleasure, reading, and seeing friends. I also spend time in Italy as often as I can.
